IS IT A LIPSTICK OR LIPGLOSS?| FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Hi guys! I picked up the Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stains. When I seen them on sale a little while ago I didn’t even look twice at them I just picked up a few shades to try them out and if I’m being completely honest with you I thought they were liquid lipsticks because silly me didn’t read the packaging. Even though I’m not an overly big fan on the lipstain idea I thought I would try them out anyways and let you know what I think.

On the website it says as follows :

Intense Colour Glass Like Shine
Go global with ColorStay Moisture Stains. With the intense colour of a lipstick and the high shine of a gloss for a colour that lasts.

Packaging

The overall look of the packaging is very professional. It’s cohesive with the colour inside and it’s staight to the point. Practicality wise it ticks every box as well it screws shut so there is no way it’ll open on its own. It’s also hard sturdy plastic so it won’t shatter like some lipstick lids do which is a plus. So Yes!! 10/10 for packaging I like it, it’s cute.

Formula

I really was surprised by how much I liked these. I was a bit disappointed when I realised they weren’t what I thought they were but they really have surpassed my expectations so far.

The formula has excellent pigmentation. I find each of the ones I bought are very bright and are full of colour. These aren’t for those looking for a subtle lip.

The shades I picked up :

  1. Miami Fever 035 – Orange/ red reminds me of a watermelon shade I have in my collection. Is quite toned down, isn’t too bright and in your face.
  2. Barcelona Nights 015 – Very magenta and very bright. Not easy on the eyes but nice still the same if bold is what your looking for.
  3. New York Scene 045 – Lovely deep red.
  4. Rio Rush 020 – very similar too 015 but this is more Barbie pink, lighter and far more wearable.

Unfortunaly these aren’t too long lasting. They are very glossy and the texture is gel like. It feels almost like a silicone primer on the lips it’s that smooth. Which unfortunately means they slip and slide too so if your trying to avoid getting these everywhere I’d use a lipliner.

It fades after a little while and leaves a very pretty light tint to the lips which is suppose is the “stain” however you can always just reapply if you prefer the full colour.

I’d also like to mention that My lips are always so moisturised and soft after wearing these which is just a lovely little extra.

Application

They apply really simple and It takes 2 minutes to apply which I do enjoy how quick and easy they are too just swipe on and go. They really are like a lipstick and gloss in one except they don’t feel heavy and gloopy.

The applicator itself is quite large but comes to a point so I can be precise where I have to be.

These are very smooth to apply and I don’t find I need to apply loads for the pigmentation to be opaque. The only thing I’d like to mention is that I found it quite difficult to get the colour to stick to the inner rims of the lips.

Overall Thoughts

I think I’ll be getting a lot more use out of these. I was particularly sour with them to  begin with but now that I’ve tried them my head has been turned. They aren’t what I expected at all I was expecting them to be one massive, gloopy, sticky mess but they were the complete opposite. I would recommend these to a friend definitely. :)) They are amazing especially for the summer considering how bright and lightweight they are.

What’s your favourite lip products to use? And what’s your thoughts on this whole hybrid idea? Let me know down in the comments and Please leave a like lovelies!! Thank you!! Xx
